“Estandarología comparada entre las lenguas de España (ECLE): la gestión contemporánea de la normatividad”

(Comparative standardology between languages in Spain: (ECLE): the contemporary management of normativity)

Researchers: Joan Costa-Carreras, Miquel Àngel Pradilla, Carla Amorós-Negre, Miren Azkárate and Henrique Monteagudo

Its four hypotheses are:
1. It is possible and desirable to establish an epistemologically operational theoretical framework for the consolidation and study of comparative standardology in the Spanish sociolinguistic context.
2. The anthropological perspective of the enregisterment will allow us to compare the processes of iconization of the standard varieties of Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque.
3. The full standardization of Spanish means that its variational reality is perceived by its speakers as not problematic. On the other hand, in the case of Catalan, Galician and Basque - with a non-full standardization - the variational reality is perceived by its speakers as problematic.
4. Restandardization, demonization and linguistic destandardization processes that lead to greater linguistic levelling between standard and non-standard varieties can be observed in the sociolinguistic contexts of Spain.

Five general objectives are proposed:
1. To propose an epistemologically operational theoretical framework for the consolidation of comparative standardology in the Spanish sociolinguistic context.
2. To analyze the prescriptive practice in the different language cultures of Spain,
3. To analyze the processes of ideological construction and enregisterment of their respective standard varieties.
4. To empirically find the degree of objective (structural) linguistic convergence between the different linguistic models arising within the same language (Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque) and their correlation with the subjective sociocognitive perception of the speakers themselves (attitudes and ideologies).
5. To examine the scope of reorganization processes of linguistic normativity typical of late modernity in the Spanish-speaking, Catalan-speaking, Galician-speaking and Basque-speaking communities of the Spanish territory.

We can announce the call of papers for a monographic issue on "Comparative standardology: theory and practice" in the journal Treballs de Sociolingüística Catalana (http://revistes.iec.cat/index.php/TSC/index), whose editor is our team.

2) The call of papers:

The TSC journal makes a call for articles for number XX (2021), on the theme of the monographic section "Comparative standardology: theory and practice" [...]. The monographic section will deal with both the theoretical questions of the discipline (epistemology, methodologies, objectives, etc.) and their applications to specific cases, always from a comparative perspective of standardization processes. Therefore, articles that deal with either theoretical discussions or case studies in the field of the comparison of standardization processes will be welcome. Articles that do not adopt a comparative perspective will not be accepted. Papers in English, French and Spanish are welcome.
